Creating the Assets

The main concept in this business is the mine trucks. These mine trucks and their properties cannot be changed and therefore would benefit from having their properties added to the Asset Library.

The following properties will be used in the model and so will be added to the Asset Library:

  • Payload Capacity (tonnes);
  • Cycle Time (minutes); and
  • Availability (percentage).

We will now add the Mine Branch to the Asset Library and the truck Shift Assets.

  1. Select a Generic Asset from the Templates list. Generic Asset Generic Asset
  2. Drag the Generic Asset to the Master branch. GA to Master GA to Master
  3. Rename this Asset Mine in the properties bar. Mine Asset Mine Asset
  4. Add another Generic Asset to the Mine Asset. Add Another Asset Add Another Asset
  5. Rename this Asset Truck Shifts.
  6. Find the Truck template in the template list.
  7. Drag two of the truck templates to the Truck Shifts asset. Adding trucks Adding trucks
  8. Name the first truck Asset Shift 1 Trucks.
